Test 1: “How To Get Rid Of The T
This test is called “How To Get Rid Of The Towel”. Here are the instructions on how to do it: when your Bernese Mountain Dog is active and awake, cover his head and shoulders with a towel and start taking the time.
There is a score list for this test on how fast he will get rid of the towel. The maximum points are 5 and the minimum is 1.
- 5 Points: if he gets free within 5 seconds.
- 4 Points: if he gets free within 5 to 15 seconds.
- 3 Points: if he gets free within 15 to 30 seconds.
- 2 Points: if he gets free within 30 to 60 seconds.
- 1 Point: if he gets free within over 60 seconds.
This is a very simple test to do at home, within a few seconds you can find out how capable your Bernese Mountain Dog is. I’m doing this training or test with my Bernese Mountain Dog weekly and he is getting 5 points without issues, every time he is faster.
Test 2: ” The Food Under A Towel”
This test is called ” The Food Under A Towel”. Instructions for this test are very simple. Show the delicious treat to your Bernese Mountain Dog. Place the treat on the floor and cover it with a towel. Start counting time and see what score will get your Bernese Mountain Dog.
Your Bernese Mountain Dog can get a score from 1 to 5. Depends on how quick he will get the treat from under the towel.
- 5 Points: if he gets the treat within 15 seconds.
- 4 Points: if he gets the treat within 15 to 30 seconds.
- 3 Points: if he gets the treat within 30 to 60.
- 2 Points: if he tries to get the food but gives up.
- 1 Point: if the Bernese Mountain Dog gives up immediately.
Test 3: “The Social Learning”
Test number 3 is called “The Social Learning”. How to do it? The Bernese Mountain Dog must spontaneously sit 6 feet away from you. Look at him. When the Bernese Mountain Dog is looking at you, just smile at him.
